OpenBox Services

An OpenBox Service is a web application created by you that is configured to integrate with Box.net. OpenBox Services can manipulate files stored by Box.net users. This gives the Box.net users the ability to use your service to perform actions on files they have stored on Box.net.

Think of the relationship between services, actions and files like this:

You can define your OpenBox Service on the OpenBox Services configuration page.

Note that actions are meant for Box.net users to perform from within Box.net. If you are creating a desktop application or external web application, you may want to focus more on the API functions and refrain from creating actions.

Next Steps

After you've defined your OpenBox Service, you may define one or more actions for it. Proceed to creating actions.
